Sustainability Manager - (Part time )
Competitive and subject to experience
2040 Winton Lorneville Highway, RD6 Makerewa
We’re after a Sustainability Manager. You see, we take the job of being good custodians of the land very seriously. We take the job of looking after cows very seriously. Both need to be healthy for us to succeed and for farming to have a future. Which it does. And this role is all about helping define that future.
The role will take the lead, and build on, the FGL Environmental Strategy. It’s all about the ultimate goal of creating a sustainable future by improving our impact on the environment. The supporting pillars of this framework are Soil, Water and Climate Action. So it begins with looking after the beginning of life (soil). We look after our valuable natural resource (water) and rethink, reduce, reuse and recycle (climate action).
So like we said, it’s a critical role and sits at the very heart of what we do.
It goes without saying that you’ll have a passion for the environment. We expect you’ll be committed, happy to challenge our thinking, present new ideas and always looking to implement improvements. You’ll want to monitor, measure and report so we know what our environmental scorecard is and understand how we can take it higher still.
This might mean you have a good understanding of regulations. But whilst that’s preferable, it’s not a necessity. However, you will definitely be able to demonstrate an understanding of environmental drivers, with the capability and willingness to continually learn.
You also be willing to get your hands dirty, lending a hand on farm to ensure we meet our environmental plans, educating and encouraging those around you to become better at our environmental practice on farm.
Above all else, you’ll be passionate. We’re going to make some changes to Farming and you’ll be part of it.
